The old covenant, which was given to the people of Israel in the Old Testament, was never meant to save anyone, so God gave us the new covenant. While the new covenant can be summarized as the good news of salvation in Christ, it is important to note that God has done all of the work for our salvation.

After Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, the chief priests made their decision to kill Jesus. After they captured him, they brought him into the Sanhedrin and questioned him, looking for reasons to have him put to death. Jesus' answers serve as both a declaration of his deity and as a prophecy of his eternal rule in Heaven.
