MWUTT 19: Christian Compassion and Justice with Immigration Enforcement

Welcome to this week's episode of Men Who Understood the Times. I'm Michael, here with Josh and Andy. And we're gonna start right away with our disclaimer because we're gonna be talking about some things that are gonna be spicy, mainly because we had a different topic planned until yesterday when we had a lot of our own fans and so forth reach out to each of us and ask us to do this particular topic. And we're gonna say some things that, like, like I said, may sound kind of spicy, and partly because, from what we've heard, other pastors and other churches, even Christians, are not really talking about these kinds of things. So we're trying to look at them with a Christian perspective. And so Josh had actually written the disclaimer, so I'll read that. "Men Who Understood the Times is riffing off of 1 Chronicles 12:32. We started this podcast not with the claim that we are those men, but that we're trying to become those men by talking about things in the light of God's word. A foundational premise of this podcast is that there are certain topics wherein there's ostensibly a vacuum of thoughtful, biblical dialogue because in our Lutheran subculture we simply do not engage." So you can tell Josh wrote this because I don't use the word ostensibly. Uh, "The spirit of the age then has a rather large opening to install divisive spiritual malware that can divide us from each other and eventually walk further and further away from the truth of Christ. Our topic today is a nod to multiple listeners reaching out and saying, 'Would you please talk about this?' As we discuss immigration, law enforcement, and how Christians might react in a way that pleases the Lord, it's possible, even likely, that offense may be taken on one side or the other. Please know that this is not the intention of anyone on this podcast to spe- to specifically give offense. We're not shock jocks, and this is not a comedy show." So thank you for that, Josh. So with that, we're gonna be talking in this episode about Christian compassion and justice when it comes to immigration enforcement.
