God does not forgive our debt by simply cancelling it. The King’s Son – Jesus Christ – paid off our debt. Not with gold or silver, but with his holy, precious blood and his innocent suffering and death. Our King has turned his mercy on us his servants, because his Son paid for our astronomical debt.

In this week’s Thirsty episode, we discuss Genesis 50:15-21 where we can learn a lesson from Joseph in how he doesn’t hold a grudge. Joseph was quick to forgive his brothers. Then we examine Matthew 18:21-35 where Jesus forces us to see ourselves in the unmerciful servant. We cannot buy our way out of our sin, do enough good deeds, or bargain with God. Salvation is entirely dependent on the King looking at our astronomical debt and saying, "I cancel it."
