The Lord is a gracious and compassionate God, who sent his Son to leave the comfort of heaven to suffer the pains of hell on the cross. Jesus is concerned about the Jews of Israel, the Gentiles of Assyria, the 120,000 of Ninevah, and the tens of thousands in your community. He’s so concerned and compassionate about people that he doesn’t care at all about a person’s skin color or background or lifestyle. He doesn’t classify anyone as “serious” sinners or “mild” sinners. God is going to do what he wants with his mercy. We dare not be envious because he is so generous (Matthew 20:15).
In this week’s Thirsty episode, Pastor Nitz from Cheyenne, WY, joins Pastor Zarling to discuss Jonah 3:10–4:11 where Jonah is upset with the amazing grace of God. Then we examine Matthew 20:1-16 where Jesus tells a story of God’s amazing generosity. This parable is the infant who receives grace at the baptismal font and the 95-year-old lady who confesses Christ for the first time on her deathbed. God’s vineyard operates entirely on the terms of the Landowner’s sovereign grace.
